Muhurat dates in February 2027

What the calendar is doing in February
February falls in Magha and Phalguna, in the open season after Makar Sankranti, and it is one of the busiest wedding months of the north Indian year. Basant Panchami in Magha is treated in much of the tradition as an abujh muhurat — a day auspicious in itself, needing no further calculation — which is why so many marriages are fixed to it.
Mahashivratri falls on the fourteenth night of the waning moon in Phalguna, usually in this month or at the start of March. It is a vigil rather than a beginning, and it is kept as an observance rather than treated as a date to start something on.
The month is in demand for exactly the reason it is open, and Basant Panchami concentrates that demand on one day. A wedding or a griha pravesh fixed here is competing with every other household working from the same panchang, which makes availability rather than the date the thing to settle first.
Magha is also one of the months in which bathing at a tirtha carries its own standing, which is why Prayagraj's mela falls here and why the city's rites are concentrated in it.
