A muhurat is a window the panchang marks as favourable for beginning something. This calendar lists those windows and nothing else: no date here is a ranking, a caution or a warning.

What the tradition asks of a Vastu Shanti date
Vastu Shanti is addressed to the site and follows the same closed periods as a griha pravesh, for the same reason: it is a beginning. It is kept on a newly built house before anyone lives in it, and usually on the same day as the griha pravesh or the day before it.
A house that is bought or rented rather than built does not take one. Substantial renovation — moving walls, rebuilding a kitchen, changing the entrance — is treated by most pandits as reason for one, so it is worth describing the work when the booking is made rather than deciding for yourself.
Because it is normally kept immediately before a griha pravesh, it inherits that rite's competition for dates. Booking the two together is the usual arrangement and avoids the case where one has a muhurat and the other does not.
