What decides the cost of a Haldi Kumkum
The haldi is an hour and a half and the pandit's part of it is short. The turmeric, sandal and oil are bought by the household in the quantity the gathering needs, so the samagri line is the family's decision rather than the package's.
What is different in Deoghar
Shravan is the whole of Deoghar's calendar, and through it local pandits are committed to the pilgrimage. A booking in that month is quoted against a month in which almost nothing else can be fitted; the months either side are ordinary. Temple-mode rites at Baidyanath carry the temple's charge.
