When Deoghar's temples were built
Baidyanath's fabric is medieval and its foundation is undatable — the Jyotirlinga tradition places it before record, and the complex of twenty-one shrines grew around it over centuries rather than in one campaign. Its architecture is the eastern idiom, a tall curvilinear shikhara over a small sanctum, repeated at different scales across the courtyard.
Naulakha, by contrast, is dated to the 1940s and costed in its own name — nine lakh rupees — and was built by the Rani of Pathuria Ghat in memory of her teacher, modelled on Belur Math near Kolkata. Two buildings four centuries apart, a kilometre and a half from one another.
