What decides the cost of a Havan
A havan is priced on its offerings. The samidha, the ghee and the havan samagri are consumed by the fire and are bought by weight for the number of ahutis the sankalp names, so a hundred-and-eight-ahuti havan and a thousand-ahuti one are different quotes for the same two hours.
What is different in Darbhanga
Most rites here are kept at home, so travel is the main variable and the temple charge rarely applies. A Mithila wedding's dates are agreed later than elsewhere because the Panji consultation comes first, and a late-agreed date is quoted against what is still available rather than against the whole season.
