What decides the cost of a Lakshmi Puja
The puja itself is an hour and a half, and the samagri is modest. What moves the quote is the date: it falls on the Diwali amavasya, every household in the city wants the same evening muhurat, and a pandit can keep two or three bookings in a night rather than a day's worth. Booking early is what changes what is available, not what is charged.
What is different in Prayagraj
Most of the city's rites are kept at the Sangam, and for much of the year reaching the confluence means a boat, which the family arranges and which is not part of the quote. In Magh the sands are walkable and the mela ground is where the pandits are, which changes the travel line in both directions.
