What a vidhi fixes, and what it leaves to the family
The sequence below is the vidhi — the order the rite is conducted in, fixed by tradition rather than by the pandit. What varies between families is custom: which deity is honoured first, whether a particular prasad is made, how much of a katha is read aloud. The order itself does not move.
For a griha pravesh the practical points sit at either end. The house should be empty of furniture when the rite begins, and the household is expected to stay in it the night it is done — so the muhurat decides the moving date rather than the other way round. The milk boiled over in the kitchen is the closing step, not a flourish added to it.

Threshold puja द्वार पूजा
