What decides the cost of a Satyanarayan Katha
The katha is three hours and one pandit, and the samagri list is short and cheap — the sinni ingredients, the panchamrit, flowers and a chowki. What moves the quote is the venue: kept at a temple it may carry the temple's own charge, and kept at home it carries only the pandit's travel.
What is different in Rajgir
Rajgir is small and its distances are short, but the town's ritual centre is the kunds rather than the houses, so a rite kept there carries the travel and the timing of a site visit. The Malamas fair in the intercalary month is the one period when nothing local can be planned around.
