Chhoti Patan Devi (छोटी पटन देवी)

Chhoti Patan Devi is the second of the Patan Devi pair, in Chowk in the old city, and the two are treated in local practice as one observance kept in two places — families visit both on the same day rather than choosing between them.

The shrine is smaller and older-feeling than its counterpart, with the sanctum below the level of the lane outside. Navratri and the Diwali amavasya are when it is at its fullest.

Chowk is the densest part of Patna and the temple is reached through it rather than from a road. Because the two Patan Devi shrines are kept as one observance, families usually plan the pair together and start with whichever is nearer their house.
